The Normal CornBelters offense too much for the Frontier Greys in 18-3 rout

Story by Narrative Science.

The Normal CornBelters (18-17) shut the door early on the Frontier Greys (9-28), capturing an 18-3 victory on Friday at The Corn Crib.

With 12 runs in the first three innings, the Normal CornBelters left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A solo home run by Jhiomar Veras during the first inning and a solo home run by Patrick McKenna, an RBI single by Richard Lucas, a sacrifice fly by Roman Hernandez, a groundout by Veras, a single by Santiago Chirino, a hit by pitch, and in the second inning fueled the Normal CornBelters' offense early.

Veras had two extra-base hits for the Normal CornBelters.

Cullen Babin got the win for the Normal CornBelters thanks to 10 strikeouts. Babin allowed two earned runs, three hits and no walks over six innings.

Chris Ellison racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Frontier Greys. He homered in the third inning.

Jacob Liedka ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in two innings, walked two and struck out none.

The Normal CornBelters hammered the Frontier Greys pitching as eight hitters had a field day, combining for 19 hits, 15 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
