On March 9th, 2016, Manager Jeremy Owens named Bill Bliss the Pitching Coach for the 2016 season. Bliss takes over for Dan Reichert who departed from the Blue Crabs organization at the end of last season. A Stoneboro, Pennsylvania native, Bliss was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 3rd round of the 1991 MLB Draft out of Villanova University. He went on to spend three seasons in the Cubs’ organization and one in the Colorado Rockies organization. His best season came in 1991 while pitching for single-A Peoria where Bliss threw 20 games out of the bullpen, recording six saves in 19.1 innings pitched.
He went on to play for three more seasons, making it as high as the high-A Salem. He then went on to serve as the Pitching Coach in the Philadelphia Phillies New York-Penn League affiliate for three seasons from 2006-2008. Bliss also served as the pitching coach for the Lancaster Barnstormers in 2009. |
