Beach Bums Experience
Tanner returns to the team after he started 18 games, the second most on the club, during the 2014 season. He fired the team's lone complete game and walked only 26 batters in 101 innings on the mound. Tanner was the Beach Bums' first round selection in the 2014 Frontier League draft.

Previous Experience
Tanner joined the Beach Bums after playing for the Peoria Explorers in the Freedom Pro Baseball League in 2013. With Peoria he made seven starts and compiled a 5-1 record to go along with a 4.89 ERA. He played in the league after graduating from Arizona Christian University (Golden State Athletic Conference, NAIA) in 2013. In one season with the Firestorm, he posted a 4-3 record with a 3.14 ERA in 14 games (8 starts). Tanner transferred to Arizona Christian after playing one year at Utah (Pac-12, NCAA D-I), where he made 10 appearances and had an 8.38 ERA.

Tanner started his college career at South Mountain Community College (Arizona Community College Athletic Conference, NJCAA) and received first team All-Region and All-Conference honors as a sophomore in 2011. He was 12-1 with a miniscule 1.11 ERA in 15 games (13 starts), striking out 56 compared to just 19 walks in 97.2 innings. He led the conference in ERA and ranked second in the NJCAA in wins, setting a school record in the process.

Personal
Tanner is a native of Chandler, AZ. He is the son of Greg and Rebecca Tripp. His father played baseball for Colorado Mesa University.
