The Schaumburg Boomers announced the signing of infielder Spencer Mahoney August 12, prior to that afternoon's game against the Windy City ThunderBolts. 

Mahoney, 22, joins the Boomers after a four year collegiate career at Valparaiso University where the 6'5" 215 pound infielder hit .326 and posted 28 RBI along with 44 walks. His junior season, Mahoney led the Crusaders with 39 runs and 40 walks in 52 starts while serving as the club's leadoff hitter. 

A local product hailing from LaGrange Park, Ill., the left-handed batting, right-handed throwing Mahoney also led Lyons Township to an Illinois Baseball 4A State Championship.

He joins Boomers outfielder Kyle Ruchim as the only two current Boomers players to hail from the Chicagoland area.
