The 25-year old Panama City, Florida native has spent the last (4) seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.
In 2007, as a member of the Pirates Single A affiliate in Hickory, NC, Keel hit .261 while accumulating (23) doubles, (17) home runs, while driving in (56) RBI’s.
In 2008, Keel was promoted to the Pirates High A team in Lynchburg, VA where he continued his offensive power numbers by collecting (24) doubles, (20) home runs (3rd in Carolina League), while driving in a team leading (81) RBI’s (5th in Carolina League) and added (65) walks which was good for 5th in the Carolina League.
As a member of the Lynchburg Hillcats in 2009, Keel continued to produce good offensive numbers by racking up (21) doubles, (11) home runs, and driving in (44) RBI’s to go along with (68) walks (4th in the Carolina League), while also ranking 4th with an on-base percentage of .378.
The 2010 season will mark Jared’s 5th season in professional baseball and first as a member of the Sioux City Explorers.
For his career, Jared has a career .254 batting average and has accumulated (571) total bases, (211) walks, (84) doubles, (53) home runs, and (205) RBI’s.
