ABOUT CARTER SMITH:

After spending his freshman season at the University of Tennessee-Martin, Carter Smith makes his way back to the Midwest to join the CrackerJacks for the summer. Smith was 3-3 this past season for the Skyhawks, making seven starts in 16 appearances. Smith had an 8.10 ERA and threw 27 strikeouts in 40 innings. He was also second on the team in win-loss percentage, tied for second in wins, and fourth in strikeouts.

While attending Parkview West High School in St. Louis, Mo., as a senior, he was 1-1 in six appearances and had a 3.23 ERA while striking out 30 in 26 innings. Smith held opposing batters to .250 batting average and also garnered All-Conference honors as a junior.

Smith is a left-handed pitcher with a fastball that has been clocked in the mid-80s. He also features a change-up. Smith was born with only his left hand and switches his glove to his left hand after pitches similar to former Yankees, Angels, White Sox and Brewers pitcher Jim Abbott.

Smith is the son of Julie and Larry Smith and has five siblings. His major at UT-Martin is sports management. His favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 10:31 which says “So whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
