Graduated from Central High School. Was coached by Nick Kalina.Was named the Gatorade and Louisville Slugger State Player of the Year for the state of Wisconsin, and was also a Third-Team ABCA All-American.Was a three-time All-State, All-Area and All-Conference honoree. In his senior season, he batted .603 with 14 home runs and 44 RBI in only 28 games. He continued that torrid hitting pace in the summer as he batted .530 with 52 runs, 11 home runs and 75 RBI in 41 games. Led his team to back-to-back conference titles in 2009 and 2010. Collected 10 varsity letters with four in baseball, three in basketball and three in football. Saw action in 19 games his freshman season at Minnesota, including five starts as a true freshman. Had 48 at bats with 8 hits,1 home run, 2 runs, 2 RBI and a batting average of .167. Played for the Loggers in 2011.
