Kevin Griffin is entering his ninth season in professional baseball and his second as a coach. The 29-year old Roanoke, Virginia native spent seven years in independent baseball as a catcher. Griffin began his career in the Frontier League in 2004 with the Evansville Otters and with Ohio Valley Redcoats in 2005. In 2006, Griffin joined the Amarillo Dillas in the United League as their starting catcher. A defensive master, Griffin was named to the United League All-Star Game as a member of the Dillas.

Griffin was later traded to the San Angelo Colts and the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings later that season and became a member of the Alexandria Aces in the postseason, where he won the inagural United League Championship. In 2007, Griffin returned to the WhiteWings and hit .291 with only five errors in 48 games behind the plate, helping Rio Grande Valley to the 2007 United League Championship Series. Again, Griffin was named to the United League All-Star Team.

The switch-hitter had his best offensive year in 2008, hitting .320 for the season and was named as his team's MVP. Additionally, Griffin was elected to his third-straight All-Star game. 2009 saw Griffin jump to the American Association with the Shreveport-Bossier Captians. He again excelled defensively as he commited only five errors behind the plate in 44 games.

Griffin returned to the United League in 2010 where he returned to Rio Grande Valley before finishing his season with Coastal Bend.

Griffin made his coaching debut as the field manager of the Ruidoso Osos in the inagural season of the Pecos League. Ruidoso led the league in hitting before financial problems forced the team to cease operation. Griffin returned to Amarillo as the bench coach for the Amarillo Sox in 2011.
