Olivier Basabe was acquired by the RailCats to complete a prior trade with the Kane County Cougars. The utility player was born in Venezuela but would come to the states to play college baseball at Indian Hills Community College, and Faulkner University. 

Basabe complied some video game numbers while playing for the Eagles in 2017. He got into 65 games and finished with a .342 average, 20 doubles, and an OBP of .404. The San Diego Padres would select Basabe with the 8th round pick and send him to the Arizona Rookie League when he was just 19 years old.  

Basabe participated in a few more seasons as a Padres farmhand, last year he signed with the Kansas City Monarchs to begin the season and in early July he was dealt to Kane County. Between the two clubs, the right-handed hitter would play in 70 games slash at a .293/.335/.441, belting seven home runs, and 16 doubles.
