Brian Gursky comes to Newport after finishing up his sophomore campaign at the University of Southern California. The 6-foot-2 left handed pitcher from Granger Indiana played in 12 games this past season for the trojans, striking out 18 batters in 22 innings pitched. His best game of the season came against Omaha where he struck out five batters in three innings of work. In his freshman year for the Trojans, Gursky had a 3-1 record in 22 appearances. He also pitched in 34.2 innings and racked up 30 strike outs. Gursky spent his final year of high school at IMG Academy where he was named Perfect Game All-American Honorable mention in 2017. He was also named to All-Region first team that same year.
