Jarvis, 23, spent the last two plus years in the Giants’ organization and the Slammers expect him to be one of the top pitchers in their rotation. After a dominating high school career that netted two state titles; Jarvis was drafted by the Angels in the 25th round in 2006. He went to Arizona State University instead and made an immediate impact during his rookie campaign. Despite not getting on the hill until conference play started, he set a school freshman record for saves with 11. Jarvis struck out 22 batters and walked eight in 30 innings.

Jarvis’ sophomore year was off to a great start when he decided to go pitch for the Lincoln Saltdogs of the American Association. After not starting a game in college, he made seven starts with the Saltdogs. Overall, Jarvis made 23 appearances, netting a 2.98 ERA in 60 innings.

Jarvis was drafted that June by the Giants in the 23rd round. He split time between rookie ball and low-A that year before spending all of 2009 with the AZL Giants. Last season was a good one for Jarvis as he posted a 3.07 ERA for the Augusta Greenjackets of the South Atlantic League.
