2017 (RS-Fr.): Earned Academic All-Big Ten. Made 15 appearances including eight starts. Struck out 45 batters in 40.2 innings pitched. Made his debut in the second game of the season against No. 1 TCU (2/18), pitching a clean 2.0 innings. Pitched two innings of relief allowing just one hit while striking out two at Pacific (3/5). Added 1.2 innings of relief against Sacramento State (3/11), allowing only one baserunner. Threw 4.0 scoreless innings in his first career start vs. Bucknell (3/22) while striking out five and only giving up a hit and walk. Started and went 4.1 innings, allowing just two runs on two hits and a walk, while striking out a career-high seven batters against Columbia (3/26). Made a 2.2 innings appearance in relief against Maryland (4/16), where he struck out six batters. Returned to starting rotation vs. Northwestern (4/23) and pitched a career-high 6.0 innings, allowing just one run on two hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Pitched 5.0 innings in a start against Iowa (4/29), scattering four hits and a walk, striking out six, and not allowing a run.
