Smith, a lefty out of Thornton, IL, comes into the 2018 season as one of the more highly touted recruits of this year’s freshman class at Michigan.  At the very least, Smith has lived up to the hype that surrounded him coming into his first collegiate season. In his 15 appearances out of the pen for the Wolverines, Smith threw 23.2 innings only allowing three earned runs just 14 hits.  The 5-9 lefty boasted an impressive 1.14 ERA with 20 strike outs and was second on the team with a .184 opponent batting average.  At Richards High School, Smith was a four-time All-Conference member and also a three-time Perfect Game All-American Honorable Mention, with a Perfect Game All-Region First Team honor in his senior year.
