2017: Appeared in 46 games as a senior at UC Davis, making 43 starts as the Aggies' primary catcher. Diaz ranked third on the team with a .297 average, scoring 13 runs, collecting five doubles, slugging his first career home run, and driving in 20. He ranked fourth on the team with 12 multi-hit games -- including a career-high 4-for-4 performance in the opener against UConn on March 10 -- and drove in multiple runs three times -- including four at Creighton to go with three hits (two of those doubles) on March 26.


2014: After his time at Bethel he spent two seasons for the Storm of Napa Valley College. Diaz was All-Bay Valley Conference first-team selection as a sophomore, batting .329 with 46 hits, 20 runs scored, and 23 RBI with a .442 on-base percentage while slugging .429. 

The backstop finished with a .993 fielding percentage, committing only two errors in 277 chances behind the plate, and throwing out 21 runners to earn gold glove honors. He was an honorable mention all-conference selection as a freshman at Napa Valley, batting .280 with 35 hits, nine doubles, 19 runs scored, and 16 RBI.


High School: The Vallejo native was a three-year varsity letter winner for the Bethel Jaguars, earning first-team All-Solano County Athletic Conference honors as a senior, batting .354 with 29 hits and 20 RBI, while helping the team to a second-place conference finish and an appearance in the section semifinals. He hit .345 as a junior, with six of his 10 hits going for doubles and seven RBI. 

Parents are Ignacio and Hazel Diaz and has two younger siblings, Roberto and Elias. He Lived in Mexico during his freshman year of high school, his favorite movie is "Moneyball," sports hero is Eric Byrnes, and someday wants to be a general manager of a baseball team.
