Alfonzo begins his second season with the Ducks and fourth in professional baseball. The infielder spent the entire 2017 season with Long Island and led the team with career-best a .309 batting average, good for the sixth-highest in the Atlantic League. He also set career-high totals in nearly every offensive category, including home runs (4), RBI (45), runs scored (39), hits (112), doubles (17), stolen bases (10) and games played (106). The Tampa resident collected three walk-off RBIs during the month of May, highlighted by back-to-back game-winners against the Somerset Patriots on May 19 and 20. He went on to drive in five runs during the postseason, tied with Lew Ford for the team lead, adding seven hits, three runs and two stolen bases as well.

Prior to joining the Ducks, the 25-year-old spent two seasons at the Single-A level in the Miami Marlins organization. He combined to play 125 games, totaling 96 hits, 34 RBI, 29 runs, 12 doubles and 11 stolen bases. The nephew of former Duck and MLB veteran Edgardo Alfonzo played his collegiate baseball at Florida State University and the University of Tampa, combining to hit .298 with 11 homers, 107 RBI, 129 runs and 31 doubles over four seasons. Alfonzo was originally drafted by the Marlins in the 21st round of the 2015 amateur draft.
