The Amarillo Sox get key pinch-hit in 5-4 victory over the Grand Prairie AirHogs

Jake Luce was cold coming off the bench, but Luce warmed up quickly as Luce stroked a key pinch-hit single in the nine to lead the Amarillo Sox (39-43) to a 5-4 win over the Grand Prairie AirHogs (44-38) on Tuesday at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stad.

With the score tied at four in the ninth inning, Luce came to the plate and singled.

A walk-off ground out by Garrett Rau gave the Amarillo Sox the win.

Rau was hot from the plate for the Amarillo Sox. Rau went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fifth and seventh innings.

Adam Buschini racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Amarillo Sox. He singled in the fourth inning and homered in the fifth inning.

Ryan Mitchell pitched 7 2/3 innings and allowed two earned runs, five hits and two walks while striking out six.

Chase Johnson recorded his fourth win of the year for the Amarillo Sox. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered no hits.

Ray Silva ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
