Tuesday was a great day for John Brownell, as Brownell threw a shutout to carry the Grand Prairie (6-5) to a 2-0 victory over the Sioux City (5-6) at Lewis _ Clark Park.
The Grand Prairie 's Brownell kept the Sioux City off the scoreboard for all nine innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out seven.
Richard Salazar was effective even in defeat, mowing down six the Grand Prairie batters and allowing two runs.
Salazar ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year.
