The Washington Wild Things outdone by Sheely and the Evansville Otters, 6-1

Matt Sheely went 1-3 and hit a home run, helping the Evansville Otters (23-29) to a 6-1 victory over the Washington Wild Things (19-32) on Monday at CONSOL Energy Park.

He homered in the second inning.

Bryce Morrow picked up the win for the Evansville Otters. Morrow allowed one earned run, five hits and three walks while striking out four over seven innings of work.

Gus Benusa put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Washington Wild Things. He tripled in the third and fifth innings.

The Evansville Otters couldn't get anything going as long as Jhonny Montoya was pitching. Montoya held the Evansville Otters hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Justin Hall was charged with his fifth loss of the year. He lasted just seven innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
