Thennis helps the Washington Wild Things down the Southern Illinois Miners 6-3

The Washington Wild Things (7-10) beat the Southern Illinois Miners (12-6) 6-3 on Thursday at CONSOL Energy Park behind Doug Thennis, who had two extra base hits.

He doubled in the third inning and tripled in the fifth inning.

The Southern Illinois Miners couldn't get anything going as long as Eric Blackwell was on the mound. The Southern Illinois Miners managed just three hits off of Blackwell, who allowed no earned runs, walked four and struck out one during his 5 2/3 innings of work.

Jake Kaase racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Southern Illinois Miners. He doubled in the third inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Shawn Gilblair was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed five runs.

Joel Carranza, Nick Lockwood and Thennis helped lead the Washington Wild Things. They combined for four hits and four RBIs.
