The Rockford RiverHawks defeat the Schaumburg Boomers after late game single, 6-5

The Rockford RiverHawks (30-35) and the Schaumburg Boomers (39-26) volleyed the lead five times on Sunday, but the Rockford RiverHawks came out on top for a 6-5 win on Sunday at RiverHawks Stadium.

The Rockford RiverHawks staved off the Schaumburg Boomers as the Schaumburg Boomers were unable to match the Rockford RiverHawks down the stretch.

The Schaumburg Boomers scored three runs in the ninth on a fielder's choice and a two-run single by Drew Heithoff. Unfortunately, the Schaumburg Boomers weren't able to take the lead back.

Javier Herrera racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Rockford RiverHawks. He singled in the first and seventh innings.

The Schaumburg Boomers' lineup had no answer for Kyle Lindquist. Lindquist held the Schaumburg Boomers hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four.

Cody Hallahan recorded his fifth win of the year for the Rockford RiverHawks. He allowed two runs over five innings. Hallahan struck out one, walked four and gave up seven hits.

Matt Kuna was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
