The Normal CornBelters cough up lead, the Traverse City Beach Bums win 9-6

The Traverse City Beach Bums (56-29) trailed by four in the seventh, but Sean Gusrang was able to capture the lead back with a sacrifice fly in the eighth, spurring the Traverse City Beach Bums to a 9-6 win over the Normal CornBelters (28-57) at The Corn Crib on Tuesday.

With the score tied at six in the eighth inning, hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Jeff Flagg.

Gusrang was solid at the plate for the Traverse City Beach Bums. Gusrang went 1-3 and drove in one. He doubled in the fifth inning.

Chase Burch racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Traverse City Beach Bums. He homered in the first inning and singled in the eighth inning.

The Normal CornBelters had no answer for Jake Sabol, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Sabol held the Normal CornBelters hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

A bright spot for the Normal CornBelters in the defeat was Ross Davis, who allowed only two runs while striking out six.

Kyle DiMartino ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
