The Southern Illinois Miners (35-24) and the Normal CornBelters (18-40) both had scoring chances on Monday, but it was the Southern Illinois Miners that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 5-2 win at The Corn Crib.

Ryan Eigsti got on base three times in the game for the Southern Illinois Miners. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Shawn Gilblair's 10 strikeouts helped the Southern Illinois Miners to the victory. Gilblair allowed two earned runs, nine hits and no walks over eight innings.

Ernie Banks Jr. had two extra-base hits for the Normal CornBelters. He doubled in the first and third innings and singled in the fifth inning.

Jacob Liedka couldn't get it done on the bump for the Normal CornBelters, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked four, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
