The Schaumburg Boomers' Baumann comes through in the clutch, upends the Rockford RiverHawks, 5-4

Nate Baumann drove in the winning run to give the Schaumburg Boomers (23-13) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Schaumburg Boomers hung on to beat the Rockford RiverHawks (12-23) 5-4 on Monday.

Steve McQuail was hit by a pitch to start the sixth. He then went from first to third on a single by Chad Mozingo. Finally, Baumann came to the plate with the score tied at three, and hit into a fielder's choice, scoring McQuail.

The Schaumburg Boomers staved off the Rockford RiverHawks as the Rockford RiverHawks were unable to match the Schaumburg Boomers down the stretch.

The Rockford RiverHawks scored one run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Ted Obregon. Still, the Rockford RiverHawks couldn't draw even.

Mozingo reached base three times in the game for the Schaumburg Boomers. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the sixth and eighth innings.

Matt Kuna recorded his first win of the year for the Schaumburg Boomers. He allowed three runs over six innings. Kuna struck out two, walked three and gave up seven hits.

Cody Hallahan ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
