The Normal CornBelters make the most of 8 hits in 6-4 victory over the Joliet Slammers

Both the Normal CornBelters (16-29) and the Joliet Slammers (19-28) put runners aboard on Saturday, but it was the Normal CornBelters that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 6-4 win at Silver Cross Field.

The Normal CornBelters would not relinquish the lead as the Joliet Slammers were unable to weather a four-run fifth inning deficit.

The Joliet Slammers scored on a solo home run by Patrick Norris in the fifth inning and a fielder's choice in the eighth inning. Still, the Joliet Slammers couldn't draw even.

Andrew Cohn got on base three times in the game for the Normal CornBelters. He singled in the fourth and seventh innings.

Ryan Krumlauf recorded his third win of the year for the Normal CornBelters. He allowed three runs over six innings. Krumlauf struck out four, walked five and gave up seven hits.

Jim Schult ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out three.
