The Windy City ThunderBolts (43-30) built an early lead against the Florence Freedom (40-34), scoring six runs in the first inning, en route to a 9-7 win on Wednesday at Home of the Florence Freedom.
Travis Weaver helped the Windy City ThunderBolts pull ahead for the duration in the eighth inning. Bob Glover singled to start the eighth. He then went from first to third on a single by Brandon Decker. Finally, Weaver came to the plate with the score tied at seven in the eighth inning, and hit a sacrifice fly, plating Glover.
Chad Cregar put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Windy City ThunderBolts. He doubled in the first inning.
Shane Zegarac recorded his second win of the year for the Windy City ThunderBolts. Zegarac struck out none, walked one and gave up no hits.
Brennan Flick ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
