The Normal CornBelters fight back, defeat the Florence Freedom, 8-7

A loss looked likely for the Normal CornBelters (4-8) when they trailed by two runs in the ninth inning, but the Normal CornBelters were able to capture the lead back with a an RBI triple by Patrick McKenna in the ninth inning, spurring the Normal CornBelters to an 8-7 win over the Florence Freedom (6-8) at Home of the Florence Freedom on Saturday.

With the score tied at six in the ninth inning, McKenna came to the plate and tripled, bringing home Alvaro Ramirez.

McKenna racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Normal CornBelters. He tripled in the ninth inning.

Jordan Stouffer racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Normal CornBelters. He homered in the eighth inning.

A bright spot for the Florence Freedom in the defeat was Andres Caceres, who allowed only three runs while striking out six.

Marshall Schuler got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed one run over 1 2/3 innings. Schuler struck out none, walked one and gave up three hits.

Jorge Marban (0-2) took the loss for the Florence Freedom. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
