Extra-inning thriller favors the Gateway Grizzlies, 8-7 winners over the Evansville Otters

Story by Narrative Science.

The Gateway Grizzlies (6-6) and the Evansville Otters (5-7) exchanged the lead four times on Thursday, but the Gateway Grizzlies ended up on top with an 8-7 win in 11 innings over the Evansville Otters.

Jon Myers boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace the Gateway Grizzlies. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the sixth and seventh innings.

The Evansville Otters couldn't get anything going so long as Richard Barrett was on the hill. Barrett held the Evansville Otters hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Phillip Reamy recorded his first win of the year for the Gateway Grizzlies. Reamy struck out two, walked none and gave up one hit.

Adam Champion ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
