Early lead not enough for the Southern Illinois Miners, drop 3-2 decision to the London Rippers

The Southern Illinois Miners (42-31) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 3-2 to the London Rippers (25-35) on Sunday.

A solo home run by Zach Larson gave the London Rippers the lead in the ninth inning.

Larson paced the London Rippers at the plate. Larson went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the ninth inning.

Eric Katzman put together a nice outing. Katzman held the Southern Illinois Miners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two.

Charles Wooten recorded his first win of the year for the London Rippers. Wooten struck out none, walked none and gave up two hits.

Ryan Quigley ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out four, and allowed one run.
