The Normal CornBelters (25-30) and the Schaumburg Boomers (25-31) both had scoring chances on Wednesday, but it was the Normal CornBelters that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 5-3 win at The Corn Crib.

Santiago Chirino was hot from the plate for the Normal CornBelters. Chirino went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and homered in the fifth inning.

Nick Oberg racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Schaumburg Boomers. He homered in the second inning.

Horacio Acosta got the win, running his season record to 5-2. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered eight hits.

Gunnar Kines couldn't get it done on the mound for the Schaumburg Boomers, taking a loss. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
