The Joliet Slammers (28-18) and the Schaumburg Boomers (22-24) each put runners in scoring position on Monday, but the Joliet Slammers capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 6-5 win at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium.

Phillip Bates racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Joliet Slammers. He singled in the third, sixth, and ninth innings.

Jordan Dean racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Schaumburg Boomers. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Chris Rice improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Joliet Slammers. He allowed two runs over five innings. Rice struck out two, walked three and gave up five hits.

Lars Liguori (0-2) took the loss for the Schaumburg Boomers. He allowed six runs in six innings, walked three and struck out two.
