A five-run eighth inning sealed an 8-2 win for the Traverse City Beach Bums (19-29) over the Schaumburg Boomers (24-26) on Thursday at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium.
The Traverse City Beach Bums scored in the eighth on a solo home run by Steven Patterson, an RBI single by Christian Santisteban, an RBI single by Santisteban, an RBI double by Casey Rodrigue, and a sacrifice fly by Jeff DeBlieux.
Patterson had a busy day at the plate, collecting three extra-base hits.
The Schaumburg Boomers had no answer for Luke Barker, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Barker held the Schaumburg Boomers hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out six.
Gunnar Kines was effective even in defeat, mowing down eight the Traverse City Beach Bums batters and allowing three runs.
Dylan Stoops recorded his fifth win of the year for the Traverse City Beach Bums. He allowed two runs over five innings. Stoops struck out four, walked four and gave up three hits.
Kines (3-3) was the game's losing pitcher.
The Traverse City Beach Bums were sparked by Patterson and Rodrigue, who teamed up for four hits and four RBIs.
