Dane Phillips collected three hits, helping the Evansville Otters (8-5) to a 6-4 victory over the Southern Illinois Miners (7-5) on Friday at Rent One Park, Marion, IL.

Jarett Miller was effective even in defeat, mowing down seven the Evansville Otters batters and allowing one run.

The Southern Illinois Miners were led by Craig Massey's hitting. Massey went 2-3 and scored two runs. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Hunter Ackerman improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Evansville Otters. He allowed four runs over seven innings. Ackerman struck out four, walked one and gave up eight hits.

Kevin Walsh was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just zero innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
