An exceptional effort by Chris Carmain carried the Normal CornBelters (3-3) to a 2-1 win in 12 innings over the Evansville Otters on Thursday at The Corn Crib.
Carmain kept the Evansville Otters (4-2) off the board during his seven innings of work. Carmain allowed three hits, no walks and struck out six.
A walk-off error by Dillon Haupt gave the Normal CornBelters the win.
Haupt racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Normal CornBelters. He homered in the eighth inning.
Kevin Jefferis got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered no hits.
Tyler Thompson was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
