The Southern Illinois Miners (52-30) built an early lead against the Rockford Aviators (44-38), scoring five runs in the first inning, en route to a 5-3 win on Friday at Aviator Stadium.

Michael Earley racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Southern Illinois Miners. He homered in the first inning and singled in the fourth innings.

Jarett Miller struck out 10, paving the way for a the Southern Illinois Miners win. Miller allowed one earned run, three hits and three walks over six innings.

Anthony Renteria racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Rockford Aviators. He homered in the seventh inning.

David Diaz was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
