Aaron Dudley was cold coming off the bench, but Dudley warmed up quickly as Dudley stroked a key pinch-hit single in the nine to lead the Normal CornBelters (26-17) to a 4-2 win over the Southern Illinois Miners (27-16) on Friday at Rent One Park, Marion, IL.
With the score tied at two in the ninth inning, Dudley came to the plate and singled.
Mark Micowski had a hot bat for the Normal CornBelters. Micowski went 3-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the fifth inning.
The Southern Illinois Miners had no answer for Horacio Acosta, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Acosta gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two during his three innings of work.
Despite the loss, the Southern Illinois Miners' Matt Bywater dominated the Normal CornBelters' batters, giving up one run and striking out seven.
