The Washington Wild Things (18-24) and the Lake Erie Crushers (15-24) each put runners in scoring position on Thursday, but the Washington Wild Things capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 5-2 win at CONSOL Energy Park.

Sam Mende had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He singled in the fourth inning and tripled in the first and eighth innings.

Kyle Helisek got the win for the Washington Wild Things thanks to eight strikeouts. Helisek allowed two earned runs on eight hits and three walks over seven innings.

Despite the loss, the Lake Erie Crushers' Mike Devine dominated the Washington Wild Things' batters, giving up one run and striking out five.

Brad Duffy (4-2) took the loss for the Lake Erie Crushers. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
