The Normal CornBelters offense too much for the Windy City ThunderBolts in 9-3 rout

The Normal CornBelters (19-14) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Windy City ThunderBolts (14-18), recording a 9-3 victory on Tuesday at Standard Bank Stadium.

Six runs in the first three innings allowed the Normal CornBelters to put the game away early.

A two-run single by Aaron Dudley in the first inning and a two-run home run by Jim Vahalik during the second inning helped the Normal CornBelters put some runs on the board early.

Mark Micowski reached base three times. He scored three runs and had one RBI. He homered in the eighth inning.

Coco Johnson paced the Windy City ThunderBolts at the plate. Johnson went 3-5 and scored two runs. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the third and ninth innings.

Victor Beriguete recorded his second win of the year for the Normal CornBelters. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Jake Fisher ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed six runs in six innings, walked three and struck out eight.
