A three-run ninth inning sealed a 9-3 win for the Southern Illinois Miners (20-11) over the Florence Freedom (12-19) on Friday at UC Health Stadium.

A three-run home run by Niko Vasquez delivered the runs in the ninth. The Southern Illinois Miners had two hits in the inning.

Jon Minucci racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Southern Illinois Miners. He singled in the second inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Collins Cuthrell racked up three RBIs on four hits for the Florence Freedom. He homered in the sixth inning and singled in the second, third, and ninth innings.

Alan Oaks improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Southern Illinois Miners. He struck out three, walked one and surrendered two hits.

Seth Harvey (1-1) took the loss for the Florence Freedom. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked two and struck out two.
