Kramer Champlin kept the Joliet Slammers (11-16) off the board during his seven innings of work and the Traverse City Beach Bums (16-9) beat the Joliet Slammers, 5-1.

Champlin allowed four hits, no walks and struck out two.

Jay Austin got a hit in each of his four at bats. He singled in the first and second innings, tripled in the fifth inning, and doubled in the seventh inning.

The Traverse City Beach Bums couldn't get anything going as long as Kevin McNorton was pitching. The Traverse City Beach Bums managed just one hit off of McNorton, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his 2 1/3 innings of work.

Andrew Strenge ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
