Saturday was a great day for Gaby Juarbe, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Florence Freedom (10-18) to a 16-6 victory over the Schaumburg Boomers (12-16) at UC Health Stadium.
Juarbe racked up six RBIs on three hits for the Florence Freedom. He doubled in the third inning and homered in the first and fourth innings.
Eight runs in the opening three innings allowed the Florence Freedom to easily put away the Schaumburg Boomers. A three-run home run by Juarbe during the first inning and a solo home run by Travis Weaver in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Florence Freedom.
Steve McQuail racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Schaumburg Boomers. He homered in the fifth inning.
Jeremy Gooding improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Florence Freedom. He allowed four runs over five innings. Gooding struck out four, walked three and gave up five hits.
Scott Plaza (0-4) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in three innings, walked two and struck out two.
The Florence Freedom easily handled the Schaumburg Boomers pitching as six hitters combined for 15 hits, 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
