A superb effort by Kevin Brahney led the Normal CornBelters (9-4) to an 8-3 win over the Florence Freedom (6-7) on Friday at UC Health Stadium.
Brahney held the Florence Freedom scoreless for seven innings. Brahney allowed three hits, one walk and struck out seven.
Cameron Monger racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Normal CornBelters. He homered in the third inning and singled in the sixth inning.
Sam Eberle put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Florence Freedom. He doubled in the first inning and homered in the ninth inning.
Coleman Stephens (2-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
