Thursday was a great day for Chuck Weaver, as Weaver threw eight scoreless innings to carry the Florence Freedom (5-1) to a 9-0 victory over the Frontier Greys (1-4) at UC Health Stadium.

The Florence Freedom's bats came to life in the first inning. The Frontier Greys had no answer as the Florence Freedom scored five runs. The Florence Freedom scored in the first on an RBI double by Steve Carrillo, a two-run double by Sean Mahley, an RBI single by Gaby Juarbe, an RBI single by Elvin Rodriguez, and an RBI single by Rodriguez.

Richard Biekski (0-1) took the loss for the Frontier Greys. He allowed six runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked five and struck out none.

The Florence Freedom's Juarbe, Jake Luce and Mahley combined for four hits and seven RBIs.
