Ben Waldrip had two extra base hits, sparking the Gateway Grizzlies (45-30) to a 9-7 victory over the Normal CornBelters (35-39) on Tuesday at The Corn Crib.

He homered in the fifth inning, singled in the first and seventh innings, and doubled in the ninth innings.

Luke Westphal pitched lights out for the Gateway Grizzlies. The Normal CornBelters managed just one hit off of Westphal, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his three innings of work.

Richard Lucas had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He homered in the fourth inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Charley Short (6-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed three runs.

Waldrip, Michael Wing, Kale Kiser and Richard Seigel helped lead the Gateway Grizzlies. They combined for nine hits and eight RBIs.
