The Washington Wild Things drop the Rockford Aviators 12-7 behind Ijames' early single

The Washington Wild Things (15-5)'s six first-inning runs built an early lead that helped bring home a 12-7 win over the Rockford Aviators (8-12) on Sunday at Aviator Stadium.

The Washington Wild Things scored in the first on a two-run single by Stewart Ijames, an RBI single by Carter Bell, a two-run double by William Beckwith, and a groundout by Garrett Rau.

Ijames racked up five RBIs on two hits for the Washington Wild Things.

Tanner Witt got on base three times in the game for the Rockford Aviators. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.

Shawn Blackwell improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Washington Wild Things. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out four, walked none and surrendered nine hits.

Ryan Zimmerman ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed nine runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out three.
