The Florence Freedom (10-11) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 3-2 ballgame against the Normal CornBelters (7-13) on Sunday at The Corn Crib.
While the Florence Freedom led until the seventh inning, the Normal CornBelters worked their way back and took the lead on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Shover.
Cullen Babin picked up the win for the Normal CornBelters. Babin allowed two earned runs, four hits and one walk while striking out three over seven innings of work.
Dave Middendorf was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Normal CornBelters batters and allowing zero runs.
Jorge Marban was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked three, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
