DeBruin leads the Joliet Slammers to 17-5 win over the Gateway Grizzlies

A great effort by Grant DeBruin hoisted the Joliet Slammers (39-55) to a 17-5 win over the Gateway Grizzlies (49-45) on Tuesday at Silver Cross Field.

DeBruin racked up eight RBIs on four hits for the Joliet Slammers. He doubled in the first inning, singled in the fifth inning, and homered in the fourth and eighth innings.

The Joliet Slammers didn't let up, as they kept racking up runs until the end. The Joliet Slammers scored five runs in the last three innings to finish off the blowout win. An error and a home run by DeBruin helped the Joliet Slammers score five runs in the eighth. The Joliet Slammers had two hits in the inning.

Sam Moore had an impressive outing against the Gateway Grizzlies' lineup. Moore gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work.

Tommy Richards had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first inning and tripled in the second inning.

Ethan Carter improved to 2-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Joliet Slammers. He struck out none, walked two and surrendered three hits.

Kerry Kelley ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his eighth loss of the year. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked three and struck out one.
