The Southern Illinois Miners (58-36) jumped out to an early lead on the Lake Erie Crushers (52-41) and captured a 10-2 victory on Tuesday at All Pro Freight Stadium.

The game was decided quickly as the Southern Illinois Miners exerted their will early with eight runs in the first three innings.

An RBI single by Frank Martinez, , a sacrifice fly by Marquis Riley, and a two-run double by Steve Marino during the first inning supplied the early offense for the Southern Illinois Miners.

Marino put himself in scoring position with three extra-base hits for the Southern Illinois Miners.

Anthony Montefusco picked up the win for the Southern Illinois Miners. Montefusco pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, seven hits and one walk while striking out three.

Zach Gordon (3-5) took the loss for the Lake Erie Crushers. He allowed eight runs in five innings, walked three and struck out none.

Marino, Aaron Gates and Ryan Cavan helped lead the Southern Illinois Miners. They combined for nine hits and five RBIs.
