The Evansville Otters need extra frames to finish the Washington Wild Things, win 4-3

It took 12 innings, but the Evansville Otters (48-30) managed to put away the Washington Wild Things (48-32) 4-3 on Saturday at Bosse Field.

With the Evansville Otters trailing by one in the twelfth inning, Chris Sweeney came to the plate and doubled, plating Jeremy Nowak and Chris Elder.

Sweeney racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Evansville Otters. He homered in the second inning, singled in the tenth inning, and doubled in the twelfth inning.

Connor Little handled the Washington Wild Things' lineup with ease, racking up seven strikeouts. Little allowed one earned run on four hits and four walks over six innings.

Matt Purnell was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Evansville Otters batters and allowing zero runs.

Edgar Lopez got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed one run over two innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered one hit.

Jonathan Kountis was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
