An awesome effort by Clint Wright hoisted the Frontier Greys (22-42) to a 12-0 win over the Joliet Slammers (25-39) on Wednesday at Silver Cross Field.
Wright held the Joliet Slammers scoreless during his nine innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out eight.
Seven runs in the first three innings helped the Frontier Greys blow out the Joliet Slammers. A groundout by Joe Rapp and an RBI single by Frank Florio during the first inning and a solo home run by Jon Dziomba in the second inning helped the Frontier Greys put some runs on the board early.
Florio racked up six RBIs on four hits for the Frontier Greys.
Matt Crim couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Joliet Slammers, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out four.
