Sanchez helps the Lake Erie Crushers down the Normal CornBelters 8-6

The Lake Erie Crushers (32-27) beat the Normal CornBelters (28-30) 8-6 on Friday at The Corn Crib behind Juan Sanchez, who collected four hits.

He tripled in the first inning and singled in the second, fourth, and seventh innings.

The Normal CornBelters had no answer for Trevor Longfellow, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Longfellow held the Normal CornBelters hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.

Tyler Shover was solid at the plate for the Normal CornBelters. Shover went 3-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the second, sixth, and eighth innings.

Mickey Jannis got the win, running his season record to 3-4. He allowed four runs over five innings. He struck out four, walked one and surrendered 10 hits.

Corey MacDonald ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
